Warranty Excellent Installing a keyless entry to a new car void a warranty?
i just got a brand new Mazda 3 Sedan..but unfortunately, im a new buyer and my credit would only allow me to get the base model… my car is excellent but Not power locks… if i go install power locks for my car. does it void the warranty?
Yes and no. It depends on whether or not the system interferes with the normal operation of the vehicle’s systems. For example, if the keyless entry causes a drain on the battery and eventually kills the battery and it won’t take a charge, then the warranty for the battery will not be honored. It won’t erase the warranty on the whole car, just the system or part that the aftermarket keyless entry system affected and caused to fail. However, the dealer must find the fault with the keyless entry system in order to blame it for the problem.
Only Mazda can tell you wether or not something will void (partially or totally) your warranty, not people who think that It shouldn’t, in the end it is up to Mazda anyway. A simple call to Mazda America could answer all your questions regarding warranty coverage. It is your car and you can do whatever you want to it. If you want power locks try to see if you can find an add on using mazda parts (kinda expensive and therefore reflected in the price of the car) first as these are guaranteed to fit, if not, use a good aftermarket kit that fits your vehicle and have a professional install it.
