Dan Gets a Minivan (Hardcover)
$32.56
In the bestselling and beloved tradition of Dave Barry, a coming-of-middle-age tale by Thurber finalist Dan Zevin, master of “Seinfeld-ian nothingness” (Time) about a man’s inevitable transition into mid-life and fatherhood. The least hip citizen of Brooklyn, Dan Zevin has a working wife, two small children, a mother who visits each week to “help,” and an obese Labrador mutt who prefers being driven rather than walked. How he got to this point is a bit of a blur. There was a wedding, and then there was a puppy. A home was purchased in New England. A wife was promoted and transferred to New York. A townhouse. A new baby boy. A new baby girl. A stay-at-home dad was born. A prescription for Xanax was filled. Grey hairs appeared, grey hairs fell out. Six years passed in six seconds. And then came the minivan. Not just a daddy book, Dan Gets a Minivan is about a guy who happens to be a dad. Acclimating to adulthood has never been his strong suit, and this slice-of-midlife story chronicles the whole hilarious journey—from instituting date night to joining Costco; from touring Disneyland to recovering from knee surgery; from losing ambition to gaining perspective. Where it’s all heading is anyone’s guess, but, for Dan, suburbia’s calling—and his minivan has GPS.

Chevrolet Astro
$69.72
The Chevrolet Astro was a rear-wheel drive minivan introduced by Chevrolet in 1985 to rival domestic (American) competitors the Dodge Caravan/Plymouth Voyager twins and the Japanese Toyota Van. Also sharing the Astro’s platform was its sibling, the GMC Safari. In addition to standard passenger uses, the vans were also available as cargo vans, and converters used them as the basis for small conversion vans. Both Pontiac and GMC have used the Safari nameplate (GMC is part of the Pontiac/GMC division); Pontiac used the nameplate on several of its station wagon models from 1955 through 1989. The two Safaris, both Pontiac and GMC, were on the market together (often sold by the same dealerships) from 1985 through 1989. The Astro model name had been used previously for the unrelated Chevrolet Astro 1 Concept car, first shown at the New York Auto Show of 1967. While the Astro was referred to as a minivan, it was sized between the Chevrolet Venture/Lumina APV unibody minivan and the full-size Chevy Van/Express.
Didn’t I Feed You Yesterday?: A Mother’s Guide to Sanity and Stilettos
$5.65
This irreverent, eye-popping memoir from an irrepressible mother of six gives the inside scoop on raising a large hoard of boys in the jungle of New York City – without sacrificing your sanity, or your stilettos. In her nonstop colorful stories marked by her acerbic wit, Project Runway star Laura Bennett teaches us that you can still drive a minivan, (if you must) without scrapping your six-inch heels. Laura flips conventional wisdom on its head, while taking us on a wild ride though domestic chaos: "Get you oxygen first moms." Laura explains why the airlines have it right – if mom isn’t breathing, no one will be. "Of course I lie about my age. I tell people that I am older than I actually am. ‘Wow 50? You look great!’ I may not be able to compete with 30-year-olds, but I can still kick a sixty-year-old butt." If things get too overwhelming, I just schedule a dentist appointment. There is nothing like a root canal to secure some guilt-free me time." Riotous, charming and brutally honest, this fashion icon blows the lid off the traditional role of wife and mother.

Tomato Soup for the Soul
$11.71
When Allan B. Russell finally decided to put pen to paper, there were several directions he could have taken. However, because of his religious convictions, he was moved to concoct fictional stories based on his Christian experience. Resulting from his diligence this awesome work came to fruition.’Miracles at Christmas’ was the first story in the series to be penned. It was written in the back of a minivan from Stone Mountain, Georgia to Bronx, New York.Having found himself in the zone, Allan remained there until twenty-eight stories and six months later, Tomato Soup for the Soul came into existence. Of the twenty-eight stories, twenty-seven of them are published in this book. These narratives are either based on true life situations as experienced by the author himself, or presented in a manner that reflects Bible teachings.Allan B. Russell is a native of Barbados with citizenship in the USA. His love for writing began around eight years old, when he sewed together discarded sheets of paper, and wrote stories in his make-belief book.A graduate of Combermere School in Barbados, Allan immigrated to London England in mid-sixties in search of a dream to be a famous singer. Two months after he landed there, his wife Maureen followed. His career in the music industry came to an end after he toured many countries in Europe, and the Middle East, as lead singer. His marriage to Maureen has way outlasted his career in music, which is currently going on forty-six years. This dapper Granddad is no stranger to stage performances, radio and television broadcasts. From his home audio recording studio, Allan has written and produced several songs, and he is currently working on an MP3 version of Tomato Soup for the Soul; primarily to serve the needs of the visually impaired.
