 Buick Terraza

Buick Terraza

$50

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Buick Terraza is a minivan from General Motors’ Buick brand that was sold from the 2005 through 2007 model years. It filled the position of GM’s luxury minivan that was previously occupied by the Oldsmobile Silhouette until the division’s demise in 2004. The Terraza was built alongside its Chevrolet, Pontiac, and Saturn sisters; (Uplander, Montana SV6, and Relay) in Doraville, Georgia. Contrary to popular belief, the Terraza was not Buick’s first minivan – the GL8 debuted in China in 2000, where it was solely marketed and is still produced and sold today. The chrome-trimmed Terraza was the most luxurious and costliest of the GM minivans, starting at US$28,110 in 2005. The Buick debuted with one engine, a 3.5 L High Value V6 that generates 200 hp (149 kW) and 220 ft•lbf (298 N•m) of torque, going from 0-60 mph in the 9-second range. For 2006, a 3.9 L LZ9 V6, with 240 hp (179 kW) and 240 ft•lbf (332 Nm) torque, was added as an option, which delivered faster acceleration and better response.

 Chrysler Pacifica

Chrysler Pacifica

$52

The Chrysler Pacifica is a mid-size crossover, introduced by Chrysler and marketed from model years 2004 to 2008. The CUV was inspired by the 1999 Chrysler Pacifica and 2000 Chrysler Citadel concept cars. Chrysler marketed the Pacifica as a “sports-tourer,” building the vehicle at the Windsor Assembly Plant, alongside the long-wheelbase minivans from early 2003 through November, 2007. Notably, the Pacifica was the first jointly engineered product of the 1998 Chrysler-DaimlerBenz “merger of equals.” Chrysler developed the vehicle in 30 months at a cost below $1 billion.

Want to help “resurrect” the Buick Terazza?

So… I am a huge fan of minivans, but especially one, the Buick Terazza. However, as you know, it was shut down in 2007. But here’s the thing: I practically have come up with an entirely new design (it’s based off of the old Silhouette/Lumina APV/Trans Sport design, with a few 21st century tweaks). I know that Buick had marketed the Terazza as a Luxury Utility Vehicle, but the minivan looks repelled nearly all buyers, so I reverted it to its original “dust buster” shape, and essentially made it look like a cross between a Cadillac Escalade and a Honda Odyssey with only 1 sliding door.

My question is this: How do I get my ideas to Buick, and if so, is there any guarantee that my idea will be put to use? I NEED HONEST ANSWERS AND WILL GIVE 10 POINTS TO THE BEST ONE!!!

I doubt your design can best the Honda Odyssey or Toyota Sienna. Comparing the GM U body minivans to them is like comparing horse s**t and ice cream. The GM products offered nowhere near the level of quality and fit and finish, and were way behind in terms of mechanical design as well. The looks of the later U bodies weren’t particularly offensive. They were just outclassed by better vehicles. The Honda and Toyota offered better overall reliability, better build quality, better performance, slightly better fuel economy, better resale value and better drive dynamics.

Don’t think I’m japanese car fanboy or anything because I’m certainly not. But no U.S. carmaker has made a competent minivan since the mid 90′s.

I don’t worry too much about giving you design to Buick, in all likelihood GM has thought long and hard about getting back into the minivan market, but right now they are content to come out with CUV’s like the Enclave. GM doesn’t have a dedicated minivan platform anymore. And they definitely will not spend hundreds of millions of dollars developing a new one for single model. That’s not to say a current platform couldn’t be adapted, but if it could make them money, they’d already be doing it.
