BMW Certified/Uncertified: Can i trust his words?
Hi there,
I went to a BMW dealer and they were trying to sell me a 2006 BMW 330i (fully loaded, sport and premuim packages 33K miles). The question is the car is not certified. Carfax showed clean title and car looks good. According to the salesman, this car is uncertified because there was some damge on the rear bumpers, that’s why they could not certify it. He even used the gauge to show me the body paint is in normal condition (no repaint). What do you think? Can i trust his words? Thanks for any comments.
At least take the car to your own mechanic for an inspection. BMW has some rigid requirements for certification, so he’s probably telling the truth. However, sometimes the dealer just wants to move the car without taking the time and expense of certifying. Usually, the dealer can do the minor repairs and certify the car — but they’d rather try to sell it quickly. Personally, I’d let them know that I’d take the car if they certify it and sell it at the same price.
