new nissan minivan What are the options for moving two cars a long distance?
My husband and I are moving with our two sons (possibly three depending on when we actually move) from Texas to New Jersey. We aren’t sure which of our options will be the most economical.
1) We will sell our car (2004 Nissan Altima) here (in Texas) and travel in my husband’s truck to New Jersey and buy a new one that will be better suited to our expanding family. 2) We will sell our car, buy a new bigger car to travel to New Jersey and somehow transport my husband’s truck there.
We are planning on shipping all of our belongings so that we only take our necessities. We have completed the trip in my husband’s truck before and so I don’t foresee any problems unless we end up moving after our third child is born. It might be cramped for our three kids in the backseat in which case we would probably be better off buying a new car (probably a minivan) so that it is easy on everyone.
Not sure any of us can tell you what is the most economical. Car values have a lot to do with this equation.
Instead of thinking of economy, think of what you will need when you get to NJ. Registering a new car in NJ might be a lot easier than selling a car in TX, dealing with paperwork, going to NJ, shopping for a new car, getting a loan, dealing with more paperwork, all during a summertime x-country move. etc. etc. etc.
Do you really want to deal with all this in the name of economy? All this while you are pregnant? Sounds like you have a lot going on right now, dont ya think?
If you’re going to buy a minivan, do it now and drive it to NJ along with the truck. Why can’t one of you drive the new van, and another drive the truck to NJ? Or, keep the Altima for now and drive both to NJ?
