The Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia, Chevrolet Traverse, and Saturn Outlook all share the new GM Lambda platform. The Enclave was previewed at the 2006 North American International Auto Show, officially as a concept car, making it the first Lambda vehicle to be displayed. The Enclave is partially based on the Buick Centieme concept shown at the 2003 Detroit Auto Show. The Enclave replaced both of Buick’s SUVs, the minivan- based Rendezvous and the truck-based Rainier, as well as the Terraza minivan.

It filled the position of GM’s luxury minivan that was previously occupied by the Oldsmobile Silhouette until the division’s demise in 2004. The Terraza was built alongside its Chevrolet, Pontiac, and Saturn sisters; (Uplander, Montana SV6, and Relay) in Doraville, Georgia. Contrary to popular belief, the Terraza was not Buick’s first minivan – the GL8 debuted in China in 2000, where it was solely marketed and is still produced and sold today. The chrome-trimmed Terraza was the most luxurious and costliest of the GM minivans, starting at US$28,110 in 2005. The Buick debuted with one engine, a 3.5 L High Value V6 that generates 200 hp (149 kW) and 220 ft•lbf (298 N•m) of torque, going from 0-60 mph in the 9-second range. For 2006, a 3.9 L LZ9 V6, with 240 hp (179 kW) and 240 ft•lbf (332 Nm) torque, was added as an option, which delivered faster acceleration and better response.

The Chevrolet Lumina sedan , coupe and minivan were first introduced in 1989 for the 1990 model year as a new range of vehicles from the Chevrolet brand of General Motors to replace both the Chevrolet Celebrity sedan, and the Monte Carlo coupe. The Lumina was an answer from General Motors to the Ford Taurus. All Luminas were built at the Oshawa Car Assembly plant, in Ontario, Canada. The Chevrolet Lumina had the longest length from any other W-body car at the time.

The Chevrolet Sequel is a hybrid crossover SUV concept vehicle developed by General Motors and introduced at the 2005 North American International Auto Show. The Sequel is powered by a fuel cell powertrain, which includes an electronic control unit and a fourth-generation version of GM’s fuel- cell stack. A fuel-cell is an electrochemical device that combines hydrogen fuel with oxygen from air to produce electricity. The only waste by-product of that conversion is water vapor. The Sequel became the basis for the design of the Chevrolet Traverse which is the replacement for the Uplander minivan, which is being phased out. The Sequel’s fuel-cell stack has a rated power output of 73 kW (98 hp), supplemented by a lithium-ion battery pack rated at 65 kW. One 65 kW electric motor drives the front wheels and individual 25 kW wheel-motors (outboard of the rear brakes) drive each rear wheel, providing total tractive power of 115 kW.

Visually identical minivans were also sold in Europe as the Opel Sintra, and in the UK, they were badged as a Vauxhall. Opel assisted in the development of the minivan as well. Up until 2005, Chevrolet Europe sold a few models, mostly United States domestic market (USDM) models modified to suit European regulations. Among them were the Chevrolet Trans Sport (which was a Chevrolet Venture with the front end of the Pontiac Trans Sport). During the 2005 model year, the Venture (along with the Astro) was replaced by the similar “new” 2005 Chevrolet Uplander. The Venture (along with other GM minivans) was built in Doraville, Georgia.
