For Whom The Minivan Rolls: An Aaron Tucker Mystery

For Whom The Minivan Rolls: An Aaron Tucker Mystery

$3.09

Aaron Tucker isn't a detective. An aspiring screenwriter, freelance reporter, stay-at-home dad, and expert on consumer electronics, Aaron actually defies all traditional characteristics of a detective. He's 5'4," and weighs less than Robert B. Parker's leather jacket. And he doesn't have any investigative training. But he's funny, down-to-earth, lovable, and resourceful. He has good and loyal friends, like Jeff Mahoney, the huge rental car mechanic who helps him out of tight situations, and Abigail Stein, his sexy wife, who happens to be a successful criminal lawyer, and whose advice comes in handy a time or two. So he's baffled when the richest guy in his New Jersey town, Gary Beckwirth, insists that Aaron, and Aaron alone, investigate the disappearance of his wife, Mary Beckwirth, who has inexplicably vanished from their home in the middle of the night. Aaron refuses Gary's desperate pleas, but once the editor of the town newspaper offers Aaron 1000 to write the story on Mary's disappearance, Aaron finds himself agreeing to investigate, despite his lack of investigative reporting experience. When the disappearance becomes a murder, he has no choice but to keep investigating, no matter how unqualified he may be.

Dan Gets a Minivan (Hardcover)

Dan Gets a Minivan (Hardcover)

$32.91

In the bestselling and beloved tradition of Dave Barry, a coming-of-middle-age tale by Thurber finalist Dan Zevin, master of “Seinfeld-ian nothingness” (Time) about a man’s inevitable transition into mid-life and fatherhood. The least hip citizen of Brooklyn, Dan Zevin has a working wife, two small children, a mother who visits each week to “help,” and an obese Labrador mutt who prefers being driven rather than walked. How he got to this point is a bit of a blur. There was a wedding, and then there was a puppy. A home was purchased in New England. A wife was promoted and transferred to New York. A townhouse. A new baby boy. A new baby girl. A stay-at-home dad was born. A prescription for Xanax was filled. Grey hairs appeared, grey hairs fell out. Six years passed in six seconds. And then came the minivan. Not just a daddy book, Dan Gets a Minivan is about a guy who happens to be a dad. Acclimating to adulthood has never been his strong suit, and this slice-of-midlife story chronicles the whole hilarious journey—from instituting date night to joining Costco; from touring Disneyland to recovering from knee surgery; from losing ambition to gaining perspective. Where it’s all heading is anyone’s guess, but, for Dan, suburbia’s calling—and his minivan has GPS.

Average Joe: God's Extraordinary Calling to Ordinary Men

Average Joe: God’s Extraordinary Calling to Ordinary Men

$9.99

“What is happening to my life?” Have you ever honestly asked yourself that question? As young boys, we dreamed of being pilots, firefighters, doctors, and cowboys. Now we’re older, with a wonderful wife and kids, as well as a mortgage, a minivan, and a fulfilling but not-so-glamorous job. What happened? All the dreams that once inspired us have evaporated into traffic jams, computer screens, bills, and deadlines. Why is life so ordinary? If you think your life is nothing special, take a look at it through God’s eyes. The revealing truth is that God chooses “ordinary,” faithful men to do His most important work—regular guys like Peter the fisherman, David the shepherd, Stephen the waiter, Gideon the farmer, Paul the tentmaker, and even Jesus the carpenter. In this engaging book, Troy Meeder blends stories about biblical characters and contemporary men to show that an “average-Joe” life, an “ordinary” existence, shapes a man’s integrity, moral stability, resolve, and strength. The world desperately needs an army of “average Joes.” Like you. “Troy Meeder’s heart-felt accounts from both his own personal experience and those of friends and family touch a raw nerve in your soul…. Average Joe reminds us that living a life focused on faith, family, and friends is what makes a man exceptional.”—Rick Wiggers, average Joe and account manager Includes a study guide for use by men’s groups.

 Bertone Genesis

Bertone Genesis

$42

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Bertone Genesis or sometimes referred to as the Lamborghini Genesis was a Bertone designed concept car using Lamborghini parts. It was first displayed to the public at the 1988 Turin Auto Show. Overall, it looked like a futuristic minivan with gullwing doors in the front and sliding doors in the rear. It was powered by the same 455 bhp (339 kW) V12 engine found in the Lamborghini Countach, mated to a 3 speed automatic transmission. It was front engine and rear wheel drive. While the LM002 had recently finished production, freeing up potential assembly space for the Genesis, or a vehicle like it, it was never really intended to go beyond the show car design study.

 Dodge MAXXcab

Dodge MAXXcab

$42

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Dodge MAXXcab is a four door sport utility pickup truck concept car developed by Dodge. Unveiled at the 2000 Detroit Auto Show, it was billed by Dodge as a “Passenger Priority Truck”. It shares styling cues from other vehicles in the Dodge and Chrysler line up, and is based on a modified Dodge Dakota chassis. It features nimble, sedan-like handling, a shortened utility bed, and a minivan style interior with seating for five people, the rear bench having built in child seats. It is powered by Dodge’s 4.7L Magnum V-8, mated to a multi- speed electronic automatic transmission. While not intended for production, the MAXXcab did showcase features that were to be found on subsequent Dodge products, such as the idea of making a pickup truck more centered around the passengers was utilized in the Dodge Ram Mega Cab, which was available starting in the 2006 model year.

End Of Detroit, The

$23

An in-depth, hard-hitting account of the mistakes, miscalculations and myopia that have doomed America’s automobile industry. In the 1990s, Detroit’s Big Three automobile companies were riding high. The introduction of the minivan and the SUV had revitalized the industry, and it was widely believed that Detroit had miraculously overcome the threat of foreign imports and regained its ascendant position. As Micheline Maynard makes brilliantly clear in THE END OF DETROIT, however, the traditional American car industry was, in fact, headed for disaster. Maynard argues that by focusing on high-profit trucks and SUVs, the Big Three missed a golden opportunity to win back the American car-buyer. Foreign companies like Toyota and Honda solidified their dominance in family and economy cars, gained market share in high-margin luxury cars, and, in an ironic twist, soon stormed in with their own sophisticatedly engineered and marketed SUVs, pickups and minivans. Detroit, suffering from a “good enough” syndrome and wedded to ineffective marketing gimmicks like rebates and zero-percent financing, failed to give consumers what they really wanted—reliability, the latest technology and good design at a reasonable cost. Drawing on a wide range of interviews with industry leaders, including Toyota’s Fujio Cho, Nissan’s Carlos Ghosn, Chrysler’s Dieter Zetsche, BMW’s Helmut Panke, and GM’s Robert Lutz, as well as car designers, engineers, test drivers and owners, Maynard presents a stark picture of the culture of arrogance and insularity that led American car manufacturers astray. Maynard predicts that, by the end of the decade, one of the American car makers will no longer exist in its present form.

 Lancia Megagamma

Lancia Megagamma

$44

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Lancia Megagamma minivan is a concept car designed by Italdesign in 1978 and introduced the same year at the Turin Motor Show. It can be seen as the forerunner of modern MPVs.[4][5] The car never reached production phase, because it was seen as a too risky and low selling model by Lancia’s parent company Fiat and its CEO Umberto Agnelli. This concept vehicle addressed the needs of families, with a roomy cabin in a compact package. The Nissan Prairie (1981) was the first modern production MPV following the Megagamma idea, later followed by models like the Renault Espace, Honda Shuttle, Toyota Sprinter Caribbean, Dodge Caravan, Plymouth Voyager, Renault Scenic and Volkswagen Touran. Lancia’s own MPVs are the Zeta and current Phedra. The Megagamma has a Lancia SOHC 2.5 litre flat-4 engine equipped with Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection producing 140 PS (100 kW; 140 hp) at 5400 rpm and 209 newton metres (154 ft•lbf) at 3000 rpm of torque. It was a front engined, front-wheel drive vehicle based on the Lancia Gamma platform.

After all, she worked hard for her success…and it’s not like now that she has a child she has to buy a minivan, wear Mom Jeans, and give up her career! Right?            Despite more than a few pounds of baby weight still left to lose, Clare dons her Miss Piggy Pants and returns to work. She plans a swanky Sweet Sixteen party, pulls off a million-dollar golf outing, has to come to terms with her mother’s breast cancer, and is left so exhausted that she can’t remember her ATM card’s pin number. I want to buy a minivan used any suggestions?

I would like to buy a used MiniVan but don’t no the first thing about what to look for in purchasing one,I’ve bought many cars & trucks but 0 MiniVans.Any suggestions would be very helpful, like what size motor, front wheel or all wheel drive, what to look for as far as probs.Thankyou in Advance for your Help.

I would suggest getting a 2004 Honda Odyssey EX-L. The 2004′s are just coming off lease, and were the last year before a big redesign happened. So the prices on the 2004 are much lower than the 05′s, and the quality on them is just as good, if not better (since they had been producing that line for a good while). Problems to look for are minimal and are mostly the same as any other car and truck. I’d just be sure to open both side doors and make sure that the motors that open them sound like they are in good shape.
