drum brakes help!!!?
how do i get the drum off my rear brakes so i can replace the shoes? it wont come off i tried hammering it prying it and pulling it off it wont work. i’m using jack stands and i have a 2000 chrystler grand voyager minivan
the drum is solid and wont move forward on the lugs, its like theres something holding it yet there are no screws or anything
you have to back the brake shoes off from the drum to get them off if they are that tight, look in the back of the drum (backing plate) and you will see 2 rubber plugs that you pull out and if you look inside you will see a gear wheel and a tab that comes down and locks into the gear wheel, push the tab forward and turn the gear wheel downward and that will back the brake shoes away from the drum so you can get it off.
