How long should brake calipers last on a Kia sedona minivan?
I had my brakes inspected 3 weeks ago and they said the pads needed to be replaced on the front so I had the work done. 3 days after that the van started to make a clunking noise when you hit the brakes. It doesn’t do it everytime but most of the time. So i took it back to the place i had the brakes done and they said my calipers are shot and not to drive the van until I get them replaced, which could be weeks cause no one has parts. My van only has 75,000 miles. Is this something that should have been checked when they inspected the brakes and changed the pads? Also is it common for both front calipers to go at the same time?
Well I’m not a mechanic so I have to trust that the paid mechanic at the dealership is doing their job and making sure everything is maintained when I bring it in for regular maintainance.
My thought was that obviously they did something wrong, but wanted to be able to be sure.
They will last the life of the vehicle, as long as you look after them and treat them with respect; that is, maintain them.
