Chevrolet Lumina

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Chevrolet Lumina sedan , coupe and minivan were first introduced in 1989 for the 1990 model year as a new range of vehicles from the Chevrolet brand of General Motors to replace both the Chevrolet Celebrity sedan, and the Monte Carlo coupe. The Lumina was an answer from General Motors to the Ford Taurus. All Luminas were built at the Oshawa Car Assembly plant, in Ontario, Canada. The Chevrolet Lumina had the longest length from any other W-body car at the time.

Chevrolet Venture
$53.99
High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Chevrolet Venture was a minivan produced by General Motors from the 1997 to 2005 model years. It replaced the Chevrolet Lumina APV. Visually identical minivans were also sold in Europe as the Opel Sintra, and in the UK, they were badged as a Vauxhall. Opel assisted in the development of the minivan as well. Up until 2005, Chevrolet Europe sold a few models, mostly United States domestic market (USDM) models modified to suit European regulations. Among them were the Chevrolet Trans Sport (which was a Chevrolet Venture with the front end of the Pontiac Trans Sport). During the 2005 model year, the Venture (along with the Astro) was replaced by the similar “new” 2005 Chevrolet Uplander. The Venture (along with other GM minivans) was built in Doraville, Georgia.

How many miles can a minivan last until?
I am wondering how many miles I can expect my 1992 Chevy Lumina to last? It already has 225,000 miles on it. I was wondering if we should look for a new one just because it has so many miles on it? Also it has been having some small issues (a window we need fixed, the heater)… in the last year we put new rotors, tires, brake pads, battery, starter, windsheild wipers, and heating core. How many miles do minivans last until they just die? I do not want to put any more money into it if it won’t last much longer anyways.

I owned a 1996 Chev Lumina Minivan and taught driving in it. I always maintained it well. It ran very well (it has a V-6 engine), and around 400,000 it began to develop electrical problems. I replaced the wiring harness ($1200.), and drove it for another 50,000 and then sold it in 2002. It’s still running somewhere…..I saw it a few months ago…….so I guess it depends on how you drove it, the size of the engine, how you maintained it, etc. Since then, I have put 425,000 on a 2001 Honda Civic (great little car), and now own a Toyota Corolla since June of 07 and have put 70,000 on it since then.
Change the oil every 3,000 miles, change the trans. fld. every 50,000 and maintain it well and it will last!
