For Whom The Minivan Rolls: An Aaron Tucker Mystery

For Whom The Minivan Rolls: An Aaron Tucker Mystery

$3.09

Aaron Tucker isn't a detective. An aspiring screenwriter, freelance reporter, stay-at-home dad, and expert on consumer electronics, Aaron actually defies all traditional characteristics of a detective. He's 5'4," and weighs less than Robert B. Parker's leather jacket. And he doesn't have any investigative training. But he's funny, down-to-earth, lovable, and resourceful. He has good and loyal friends, like Jeff Mahoney, the huge rental car mechanic who helps him out of tight situations, and Abigail Stein, his sexy wife, who happens to be a successful criminal lawyer, and whose advice comes in handy a time or two. So he's baffled when the richest guy in his New Jersey town, Gary Beckwirth, insists that Aaron, and Aaron alone, investigate the disappearance of his wife, Mary Beckwirth, who has inexplicably vanished from their home in the middle of the night. Aaron refuses Gary's desperate pleas, but once the editor of the town newspaper offers Aaron 1000 to write the story on Mary's disappearance, Aaron finds himself agreeing to investigate, despite his lack of investigative reporting experience. When the disappearance becomes a murder, he has no choice but to keep investigating, no matter how unqualified he may be.

Dan Gets a Minivan (Hardcover)

Dan Gets a Minivan (Hardcover)

$32.91

In the bestselling and beloved tradition of Dave Barry, a coming-of-middle-age tale by Thurber finalist Dan Zevin, master of “Seinfeld-ian nothingness” (Time) about a man’s inevitable transition into mid-life and fatherhood. The least hip citizen of Brooklyn, Dan Zevin has a working wife, two small children, a mother who visits each week to “help,” and an obese Labrador mutt who prefers being driven rather than walked. How he got to this point is a bit of a blur. There was a wedding, and then there was a puppy. A home was purchased in New England. A wife was promoted and transferred to New York. A townhouse. A new baby boy. A new baby girl. A stay-at-home dad was born. A prescription for Xanax was filled. Grey hairs appeared, grey hairs fell out. Six years passed in six seconds. And then came the minivan. Not just a daddy book, Dan Gets a Minivan is about a guy who happens to be a dad. Acclimating to adulthood has never been his strong suit, and this slice-of-midlife story chronicles the whole hilarious journey—from instituting date night to joining Costco; from touring Disneyland to recovering from knee surgery; from losing ambition to gaining perspective. Where it’s all heading is anyone’s guess, but, for Dan, suburbia’s calling—and his minivan has GPS.

A Perfect Mess: Why You Don’t Have to Worry About Being Good Enough for God

On those days when French fries litter the floor of your minivan, when you think bad words about other drivers, when your smile hides an anxious heart–in those moments when you fall short of all you’d hoped to be–what does God see when He looks at you? In your less-than-lovely moments, God sees a precious daughter in need of His perfect love.In this liberating look at how God adores and transforms imperfect people, Bible teacher Lisa Harper weaves poignant stories of her own personal foibles with a fresh take on selected Psalms to reveal a loving Father who remains your greatest champion even when you don’t feel anywhere close to holy.Join Lisa in discovering what happens when we stop trying to hide our inadequacies and doubts and instead trust God with our anger, frustrations, flaws, and regrets. As you accept God’s loving invitation to exchange your junk for His joy, you’ll find the imperfect pieces of your life shaped into a glorious pattern of divine grace.

 End Of Detroit, The

End Of Detroit, The

$23

An in-depth, hard-hitting account of the mistakes, miscalculations and myopia that have doomed America’s automobile industry. In the 1990s, Detroit’s Big Three automobile companies were riding high. The introduction of the minivan and the SUV had revitalized the industry, and it was widely believed that Detroit had miraculously overcome the threat of foreign imports and regained its ascendant position. As Micheline Maynard makes brilliantly clear in THE END OF DETROIT, however, the traditional American car industry was, in fact, headed for disaster. Maynard argues that by focusing on high-profit trucks and SUVs, the Big Three missed a golden opportunity to win back the American car-buyer. Foreign companies like Toyota and Honda solidified their dominance in family and economy cars, gained market share in high-margin luxury cars, and, in an ironic twist, soon stormed in with their own sophisticatedly engineered and marketed SUVs, pickups and minivans. Detroit, suffering from a “good enough” syndrome and wedded to ineffective marketing gimmicks like rebates and zero-percent financing, failed to give consumers what they really wanted—reliability, the latest technology and good design at a reasonable cost. Drawing on a wide range of interviews with industry leaders, including Toyota’s Fujio Cho, Nissan’s Carlos Ghosn, Chrysler’s Dieter Zetsche, BMW’s Helmut Panke, and GM’s Robert Lutz, as well as car designers, engineers, test drivers and owners, Maynard presents a stark picture of the culture of arrogance and insularity that led American car manufacturers astray. Maynard predicts that, by the end of the decade, one of the American car makers will no longer exist in its present form.

Does it really matter what kind of shoe you wear when you drive? Odds are, probably not. Unless you’re driving a formula one race car, your driving performance probably depends more on whether you took your minivan in for an oil change every 3,000 miles than what kind of shoes you’re wearing.Maybe it’s overkill to wear high-quality racing shoes like the Puma RepliCat III motorsport shoes to drive your station wagon through a school zone, but why should racecar drivers get all the cool shoes? They already get to be racecar drivers, for pete’s sake, what more do they need?Features:Material: LeatherThe Puma RepliCat III motorsport shoes feature leather and suede upper is durable and stylishNon-slip rubber outsole absorbs shock and provides sturdy structureCushioned footbed for better support and comfortLace-up construction for better fitRace-inspired tread is distinctive and provides good traction on a variety of surfacesPadded collar provides secure, comfy fitBelow we have listed a basic men’s size conversion chart. Is this a good minvan for me to buy? I live by DC and snow is everywhere, i need a minivan that will go through snow but it is a front wheel drive and no traction control system. Should i still buy?

“Good handling” is a relative term when talking about FWD and inclimate whether. Yea, you’ve got some extra weight over your drive tires, but, contrary to popular belief, FWD is not the best thing since sliced bread. Once your front tires lose traction, its game over. RWD is a bit better, but again, relative term.If you really want to handle well in inclimate whether of any kind, you’re looking for either AWD or 4WD. To be even better of, you’re gonna want tires with some aggressive tread for snow or off-road conditions.
