Are minivans better than SUV’s for gas mileage?

It depends on how big both cars are and the company that makes them. I would first find a few different models that you like (minivans and SUV’s), then compare the features and the pros and cons. The gas mileage shouldn’t be your only deciding factor. If you have kids (or are planning on having kids soon) then a minivan might be better because you’ll be running around as they grow up going from place to place and the sliding door of a minivan will most likely be easier, plus kids tend to forget to close the doors so most minivans now have automatic doors so you’ll be able to close the door with the push of the button instead of walking all the way to the car. Plus, it’s easier for parking because you don’t have to worry about your kids slamming the doors into other cars or not being able to get out because of a tight fit. When it comes down to it in the end, if there is a minivan and an SUV that are both similarly matched, then you can resort to looking to gas mileage, but other features should be more important to you than just the gas mileage, and if it turns out one has worse gas mileage than the other, it’s most likely only going to be by a couple MPG and won’t make that much of a difference in the long run because it’s really too little to notice, especially if the features outweigh the other vehicle.
