DVD Pickup laser beam hazard for eye ?

Hi everyone. I have a very technical question. My DVD player failed to eject discs and I was looking at it with a disc stuck in, and the power turned on. I lifted it, turned it upside down to see if there was a manual release to get the DVD that’s stuck in there out. At that point, right below the DVD player, through a grille, I noticed a faint red light. Then saw a yellow label that reads CLASS1 LASER

You’re ok–the red light you saw was diffuse reflection from the laser beam. If the beam itself or a coherent reflection (from a mirror) hit your eye, you’d be dazzles (momentary blindness). You probably wouldn’t have lasting effects even so. So don’t worry about it. But don’t go trying to look at it either.
