Dan Gets a Minivan (Hardcover)
$32.91
In the bestselling and beloved tradition of Dave Barry, a coming-of-middle-age tale by Thurber finalist Dan Zevin, master of “Seinfeld-ian nothingness” (Time) about a man’s inevitable transition into mid-life and fatherhood. The least hip citizen of Brooklyn, Dan Zevin has a working wife, two small children, a mother who visits each week to “help,” and an obese Labrador mutt who prefers being driven rather than walked. How he got to this point is a bit of a blur. There was a wedding, and then there was a puppy. A home was purchased in New England. A wife was promoted and transferred to New York. A townhouse. A new baby boy. A new baby girl. A stay-at-home dad was born. A prescription for Xanax was filled. Grey hairs appeared, grey hairs fell out. Six years passed in six seconds. And then came the minivan. Not just a daddy book, Dan Gets a Minivan is about a guy who happens to be a dad. Acclimating to adulthood has never been his strong suit, and this slice-of-midlife story chronicles the whole hilarious journey—from instituting date night to joining Costco; from touring Disneyland to recovering from knee surgery; from losing ambition to gaining perspective. Where it’s all heading is anyone’s guess, but, for Dan, suburbia’s calling—and his minivan has GPS.

I need a Mom-mobile?
I own a MINI cooper convertible and I’m having my first baby in 2 months. I am researching on a good Mom-car that isn’t a minivan. My budget is $26K and below and I’m interested in good gas mileage and possibly an SUV or crossover.
Thanks!
Check out the 2008 Ford Taurus X. It was rated the safest 7 passenger crossover in America, has a 3.5L 265 hp engine that was rated one of the top ten engines of the year by JD Powers and Associates, has best in class 3rd row space and cargo are, and gets up to 25 mpg. http://www.fordvehicles.com/crossovers/taurusx/
Also, there’s the 2008 Ford Edge received a top safety pick by government crash test ratings, seats up to 5 comfortably, and gets up to 25 mpg. http://www.fordvehicles.com/crossovers/edge/
Then there’s the Ford Taurus that was rated the safest full sized sedan in America, has best in class trunk area and overall interior space. It gets up to 28 mpg. http://www.fordvehicles.com/cars/taurus/
Its sister is the Mercury Sable http://www.mercuryvehicles.com/sable/
The Ford Fusion is a great choice if you want a stylish and sporty mid sized sedan with safety. It has best in class AWD and gets up to 31 mpg. You can get a fully loaded one for no more than $24,000. http://www.fordvehicles.com/cars/fusion/
Its sister is the Mercury Milan http://www.mercuryvehicles.com/milan/
The 2008 Ford Escape is an SUV that seats up to 5 and gets up to 28 mpg. It is one of the, if not the safest vehicles in its class, and you can get a fully loaded one with leather seats, a GPS system, a moonroof, and more for no more than $24,000. http://www.fordvehicles.com/suvs/escape/
Its sister is the Mercury Mariner http://www.mercuryvehicles.com/mariner/?s_kwcid=mercury%20mariner|665590200&gclid=CMf_to_09Y8CFQKXYAodanS0Ig
Your best choices would probably be the Fusion and the Escape because of their affordable prices, tons of safety features, and great gas mileage.
