Tummy Time, Sitting up, and Crawling advice please?
Madisyn is 6 months old. She loves to roll over and over. But when it comes to just tummy time she screams her head off until i pick her up. Any ideas on how to make it more fun?? Also, She will sit on her own, if i put her in position…If she falls or wants to sit up i have to pick her back up, she can not figure out how to do it on her own. All she does is lift her legs in the air and bring her chin in and grunt as if she is doing stomach crunches… When did your child learn to do it on their own or how did you show them/ teach them.. Any advice?? Finally… Because she does not like tummy time, she is not very close to crawling. Now i understand that 6 months is a bit early for a crawler, but she wants to move, she just wont take the time to learn. She does nto get into positon. she is either on her hands, or her toes, neither at the same time. How do i help this along too?? I am a new mommy and need help!!! thanks…
Well if she is rolling over and holding her head up well then she really doesn’t need to do tummy time at all if she hates it! My son learned to crawl at 7 months without tummy time! He hated it so I didn’t force it on him. He also sat at 4 1/2 months (unsupported, but with careful observation). My son is now 8 1/2 months old and didn’t learn to sit himself up until 6 1/2 months and would only do it once in awhile. He still can’t sit up from a tummy crunch. How he does it is he rolls onto his tummy, gets onto his knees, and sits his bum back down. I think that’s how most babies do it. Doing a crunch is hard for anyone, let alone a baby!!!
On a side note, my son didn’t get into crawling position until a week before he crawled… so don’t worry. she will do it on her own at her own pace! Most kids don’t crawl until 9 months or later so don’t rush it! She is just your tiny little baby. Keep her that way for awhile!
